Movement Specs

100% Swiss Made. Caliber 5040.D, 13 Jewel gold plated Swiss 1/10th of a second chronograph with date, fully adjustable hands, 3-5 year battery life, with EOL indicator.

EOL stands for End Of Life indicator. This is the function showing when the battery of the movement needs to be changed.

The seconds hand will then remain still for five seconds and jump to the next minute marker, and repeat that pattern until the battery is changed.

Subdials include:

  • 1/10 second
  • 30-minute counter
  • 10-hour counter

Case & Crown

Black IP over surgical grade 316L stainless steel, built in three pieces, and the dark finish is doing a job here: it drops the case back a step so the orange on the dial has nothing to compete with. The bezel is knurled in LIV's machine-cut pattern and locked down with exposed screws, a tool-watch detail rather than a dress-watch one.

A screw-down case-back seals the Swiss caliber 5040.D, and the screw-down crown carries the LIV logo enamel inlay. Together they take the GX1 to 200 meters, 660 feet, of water resistance.

Steel sword-shaped hour and minute hands carry BGW9 Swiss Luminova, as do the applied indexes, for improved visibility in low light. The chronograph registers are recessed into the dial, with the date window alongside them.

    Exactly what I hoped for

    I loved the speed and attention to detail in the ordering, shipping and unboxing experience. Being a watch nerd (this is no. 21), I couldn't resist the 10ths-of-a-second feature. My only wish would be for better night visibility.

    Having said that, this watch is an incredible value for price. I may even buy another at some point.
